My Role at fadd
During my time at FADD Architects, I contributed to the design of a custom headboard, working through multiple iterations to refine its form and materiality. This experience helped me strengthen my design instincts, improve my independent problem solving, and expand my knowledge of furniture design principles.

Mood Boarded & Unbothered

The Art of the First Impression

This project involved studying the architecture firm’s website, portfolio, and Pinterest boards to interpret their design philosophy and visual language. I turned my findings into curated mood boards that reflected my understanding of their aesthetic direction, material preferences, and conceptual tone. These boards were compiled into a presentation, which I delivered for review. Through this project, I learned how to analyze an established brand’s design identity, translate that into cohesive visual storytelling, and communicate my interpretations clearly. I received feedback that helped refine my ability to observe, extract, and articulate design DNA.

Bedscapes: The Pilot Episode

In My bedding Era

For this project, I explored the concept of “bedscapes” (just a fun name I would like to think I came up with) the composition of the bed, headboard, frame, nightstands, and lighting as one unified vignette. With minimal parameters given, I designed two complete bedscape concepts and assembled them into a polished presentation. This exercise pushed me to experiment with proportion, balance, and ambiance within a limited but intentional space. Through presentation and feedback, I learned how to make confident design decisions, express mood through form and material, and build a cohesive bedroom focal point from scratch.

Headboard Headquarters

Four Heads Are Better Than One

After the initial bedscape designs, this project narrowed the focus to headboards alone. I designed four unique headboard concepts, each with material callouts, upholstery ideas, and pendant lighting pairings. I organized the concepts into a clear presentation for review. This phase strengthened my understanding of silhouette, detailing, and how a single element can anchor an entire room. Through critique and feedback, I developed a stronger eye for proportion, texture, and designing with both aesthetics and function in mind.

The Chosen One: From Concept to Clarity

Headboard Level: Expert Mode

For this project, I took the client’s preferred headboard and developed it further through detailed drawings. I created front and side elevations to communicate scale and design intent, and selected coordinating accessories including side tables, lighting, and upholstery options. The final presentation showcased my ability to translate a concept into technical clarity while still maintaining design cohesion.
